Library Report
Mrs Georgia Coutts
Semester one has been full of great experiences and new friendships in the library. Our new Junk Journal Club has enjoyed learning new skills and having a chat over crafting and hot drinks, our years 7s have taken to our space at recess and lunches playing games and making new connections across year levels as well as all the usual fun had in the library.
In semester two we are excited to welcome some new additions to our library! We will be integrating EPlatform into our collection to give our students access to a range of audiobooks and ebooks. All students across the school will be able to download audiobooks for listening on their laptops and phone to be used both in and out of school hours. As an audiobook lover myself I hope this addition will make the commute to school and alternative to hardcopy books an exciting addition for our students. The Ebooks will also be accessible on all devices and have the added functionality of customising the view by changing the font and colour to support readers at all levels. More information regarding this will be shared with English teachers and students in term 3.
We are also looking for students and staff members to join the committee for the Library Art Installation project. Libraries are a reflection of the communities they belong to and through this art project we aim to offer students an opportunity to learn new skill and be involved in a collaborative design driven project shaping the community we belong to. Using the native flowering gum as our inspiration we will be creating a large-scale tree made of recycled materials to decorate our library space. If you are interested please check the Library Art Installation compass post or have a chat to me in the library.
Semester two has so much to look forward to, have a restful break and we cant wait to see you back in term 3!
