Semester one Sport Report
Mrs Kathy Berg
Semester 1 has been an outstanding period of sport at our school, with students demonstrating exceptional skill, determination, teamwork and sportsmanship across a wide range of competitions.
We kicked off the year with the much‑loved GC Pool Party, a day filled with energy and excitement. Whether students were relaxing in the chill‑out pool, racing down the waterslides, making a splash in the bomb competition, powering through the noodle races or showcasing impressive talent in the 50m events, the day was full of fun and school spirit.
A standout highlight was Ashley’s remarkable swimming achievements. After dominating at Division and NMR, Ashley continued his success at the SSV State Swimming Championships, winning gold in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke and the 200m Individual Medley. His performance in the 50m Breaststroke also saw him break the state record — an extraordinary accomplishment.

Other Term 1 events included Year 7 Cricket, Senior Sport, and the College Athletics Day.
The Athletics Carnival was a fantastic day filled with energy, participation, and outstanding performances across all year levels. Students demonstrated great enthusiasm as they competed in a range of track and field events. Willinda House claimed victory and Plenty House earned the Spirit Award.

Our Year 7 Cricket team also shone brightly, winning the Division Championship and progressing to NMR thanks to strong performances with both bat and ball.
Term 2 Highlights
Term 2 continued the momentum with Division Athletics, Interschool Round Robins for all year levels, NMR and State Tennis for our Intermediate Boys, NMR Lawn Bowls, Division and NMR Cross Country, and NMR Senior Girls Football.
At Division Athletics, students competed with grit and resilience in challenging conditions, with an impressive 25 athletes qualifying for NMR later this year.
Our Senior Netball teams delivered excellent results. The Senior Boys finished runners‑up at Division and advanced to NMR. The Senior Girls A team dominated their competition, winning every match to qualify for NMR.

Our Year 7–10 Netball teams also represented the school proudly, showing resilience and outstanding sportsmanship against strong opposition.
In Badminton, students embraced the opportunity to try a new sport, competing enthusiastically and enjoying the expanded range of activities on offer.
In football and soccer, our Senior Girls Football team won both Division matches without conceding a score, progressing confidently to NMR. The Year 8 Girls Soccer team also won their Division competition and advanced to NMR. Our Senior Boys AFL and Soccer teams competed with determination and pride, narrowly missing further progression despite strong performances.

Our Year 7 students enjoyed their first Round Robin Day, giving their best effort and embracing the fun of competing with friends. They had a very successful day with our Boys AFL, Soccer and Netball teams all winning and qualifying for NMR.
The bus ride home was filled with excitement — the kind that comes from a day spent doing something you love.

Another major highlight was the Intermediate Boys Tennis team, who won the NMR Final and advanced to the State Championships, finishing an impressive fifth overall in Victoria.
At the NMR Lawn Bowls competition, our students displayed outstanding sportsmanship and narrowly missed out on the win. Their determination ensures they will return next year with their sights firmly set on first place.
Our Cross-Country team had a fantastic showing at the Division Championships, with 23 students qualifying for the Northern Metropolitan Region (NMR) Championships. Special congratulations to Hannah Fitzgerald, who won the Under 14 Girls event, and Inessa Stabb, who placed second.

At NMR, our team once again demonstrated exceptional commitment — especially impressive given the event took place on a student‑free day. Every competitor gave their absolute best.
A huge congratulations to Inessa, who finished 1st in her age group, securing her place at the SSV State Championships next term.
The last day of competition for the term was the Girls NMR Football. The team and coaching staff did a fantastic job, winning their way through to SSV State Quarter Finals, for the 3rd year in a row!
