On Monday 4th May the Year 11 Business Management class ran their own businesses. They sold a range of products such as yo-yo’s, brownies, a cream pie to throw at a staff member, icy drinks, sundaes and sausages. They learnt valuable skills about how to deal with customers and how to meet their needs. Well done to the Year 11 groups and a big shout out to the Yo-Yos and sausage groups who sold out. A fantastic effort!

Do it for Dolly Day, on Friday 8th May, is a National Day of Action to take a stand against bullying and to spread kindness. The senior hub went blue for the occasion.

Friday 8th May our Year 11 and 12 VET Cookery students treated us with a Mexican Fiesta. On the menu they had savoury bites, sweet treats and coffee as a great way to finish off the week.

Students made pasta, zucchini and chicken roll-ups.

On Monday 11th May we had a collection of universities and independent tertiary colleges visit our College to help students prepare for future careers. The information provided by TIS focuses on VTAC and transitioning to tertiary education after secondary school. Students had the opportunity to ask questions of tertiary representatives at the expo providing insight into what is available for their 'next steps'.

Over 4 days students learnt how to screen print a set of clothes. They chose garments from a rack of options, created a design, chose screen prints to use and tried different printing techniques.

Students in the Year 10 Automotive class have been learning about vehicle exhaust systems, including their purpose, components and how they help manage engine emissions and noise. As part of a practical workshop activity, students worked collaboratively in small groups to safely remove the exhaust system from a vehicle. This hands-on task allowed students to develop their teamwork, tool-handling and mechanical skills while gaining a deeper understanding of how exhaust systems are fitted and maintained in the automotive industry.

As part of our Work-Related Skills Unit, the VPC Programme and eGames have come together this semester to train our students how to teach mature members of our community how to navigate their digital devices. Last week was our first time meeting community members and it was such a resounding success.
For over an hour, each student had an adult to work with, and they were so totally and honestly engaged with their person. Whether it was helping them navigate how to write their own photo journal, prepare their eulogy, access emails or switch between their iPad and a desktop computer, our students shone. It was such a delight to watch respectful conversations develop and see the overall success of the afternoon.
Our students are coming away with a certificate they can add to their resumes, the proud knowledge they are equipped to navigate critical thinking problems and that they possess the communication skills to help another in need.

The follow students have completed their white card course this week.
