Our Year 8 students have been busy stepping into the role of young scientists, diving into hands-on investigations using microscopes. Working collaboratively, they explored samples up close, developing their observation skills and learning how to use scientific equipment with care and precision. It was fantastic to see their curiosity in action as they asked questions, shared discoveries, and supported one another in the lab. Experiences like these not only build practical skills but also spark a deeper interest in science and the world around us.

On Tuesday 5th May, the Year 8 AFL team played at Bairnsdale City Oval. Our teams showed incredible determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day. Every player gave it their all, supported one another, and represented the school with pride. While the result wasn’t what we hoped for, the positive attitude and effort shown by our students was something to be proud of. We look forward to seeing the team continue to improve and bounce back stronger at the next game!

Our students have been busy in the kitchen, showing off their cooking skills and creativity. This week, one of our Year 8 students, Benny proudly presented a delicious batch of homemade treats dusted with icing sugar. From measuring ingredients to perfecting the final presentation, students are building confidence and valuable life skills through hands-on learning in the cooking program. Well done Benny!

Our College proudly supported Do It For Dolly Day last Friday 8th May, with students encouraged to wear their Do It For Dolly Day shirts, jumpers and hats or anything blue to help raise awareness for kindness and standing up against bullying. A gold coin donation was collected across the school to support the cause.
Students also took part in creating “Kindness Walls”, with our student leaders spending time cutting everything out and organising the displays. Year 8 students contributed by writing kind messages on butterflies, helping to spread positivity and remind everyone of the importance of kindness, inclusion and supporting one another.

The Girls at the Centre program recently collaborated with The Smith Family in a fun and creative screen-printing project. Students had the opportunity to experiment with different designs and bring their ideas to life across a range of clothing and accessories, including hoodies, shirts, pants, and tote bags. The finished pieces highlighted the students’ individuality, creativity, and artistic flair.

The 2026 Athletics Day was a fantastic event filled with energy, teamwork, and plenty of school spirit, and the weather was a beautiful sunny day! Students gave their best effort across a range of track and field events, cheering each other on and proudly representing their house colours throughout the day. From sprints and relays to novelty events and field activities, it was wonderful to see so many students getting involved, encouraging one another, and having fun. A huge thank you to all staff, student leaders, and students who helped make the day such a success. We are incredibly proud of the positive attitude and enthusiasm shown by all students!
