State Lawn Bowls
We were very fortunate to field a team in both categories of the State Lawn Bowls competition in Sunbury last week. Qualifying in senior and junior teams, made up of 3 students, there were 3 pool rounds to advance to the semi-final. Our junior team comprised of Riley, Ned and Oliver who played very well against good opposition from Maribyrnong, Cobram and Vermont Secondary Colleges. Our bowl placement was excellent for the better part of the tournament, curtailed only by some very precise and skilled opponents edging us out of a win on the day.
The senior team did themselves proud, with Annabell, Issabell and Bryce bowling superbly to win their way into the semi-final. Facing off against Kyabram P-12, this match was red hot with excitement coming right down to the wire. Notably, Annabell bowled above her years to put us in a winning position, only to have the soon to be State Champions pip us by 1 shot to knock us out of the competition. Congratulations both teams for playing and representing the college to such a high standard again.
This was a very enjoyable competition and a fantastic sport to be involved in; we would highly recommend it to any interested students.
Gippsland Volleyball
Our Intermediate Girls and Senior Mixed teams headed to Morwell last week to compete at regional level. Playing 3 games for the day, both teams performed well against quality opposition. The teams had put in a lot of training at lunchtimes with Mr Keane to get this far, unfortunately they were not able to progress any further on the day. Great work BSC.
It is very encouraging to see so many students giving volleyball a try at school and at Thursday evening competitions. We can see the physical and social benefits to those who participate.
