On Monday 4th May the Year 9 Enterprising People class ran their own businesses. They sold a range of products such as cookies, drinks like spiders and mocktails, frogs in ponds, waffle cones and brownies with raspberries. They learnt valuable skills about how to deal with customers and also how to meet their needs. Well done to the Year 9 groups as they all sold out! A fantastic effort!

Our Year 9 3D Art students have provided the Year 9 Hub with another beautiful display of artwork. This time they have created interactive 3D books which pop up and move.

Girls at the Centre participants along with The Smith Family created a wonderful showcase of screen printed fashion. Printing designs of their own creative choices on to jumpers, shirts, pants and even tote bags.

To support Do It For Dolly Day, Year 9 students wrote thoughtful messages of kindness and encouragement on blue paper butterflies, helping to spread awareness about the importance of standing against bullying. The butterfly display symbolised hope, compassion, and support for others within the school community. BSC also proudly raised money for the Do It For Dolly charity, contributing to the important work the organisation does to support young people and promote kindness and mental wellbeing.

Year 9 students recently completed their White Card course, gaining valuable knowledge about workplace health and safety. Throughout the training, students learned about identifying hazards, managing risks, and understanding safe work practices required in construction and other industries. Successfully completing the course provides students with an important nationally recognised certification and helps prepare them for future workplace experiences and career pathways.

Our Year 9 students demonstrated outstanding house spirit and determination at Athletics Day 2026. Enthusiastically participating in events, supporting their peers, and contributing to the strong sense of community within the school. Their active involvement and achievements throughout the day resulted in many ribbons being won and valuable House points being earned.

Students in the Year 9 Metalwork class have been developing their welding skills through a series of practical workshop activities. Under the guidance and demonstration of Mr Blackley, students have been learning correct welding techniques, equipment setup and safe workshop practices. A strong focus has been placed on safety, including the correct use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of tools and materials, helping students build confidence and responsibility while working in the metalwork area.
