News from Grade Five

WEEK FOUR | TERM FOUR

We are at the final term of the year and Year 5s have dived straight into some amazing learning. We began the term with our Start-up Program to revise our expectations and routines.

In Reading, students are continuing to analyse and critique texts with mentor texts that include still images, moving images and sound, such as Journey by Aaron Becker. 

In Writing, students have been completing free writes on persuasive and imaginative texts. Year 5s have also been revising their sentence structure and their spelling including common and less common plurals.

STUDENTS OF THE WEEK

In Numeracy, we have been practising how to tell the time on an analogue and digital clock. Students have also been problem solving problems that involve understanding a.m and p.m time, elapsed time and durations.

In Inquiry, we are learning about earth and space sciences. We have conducted experiments about geological processes such as weathering, erosion and depositions. This is a great link to our learning from our Scienceworks excursion last term.
