News from Grade Two

WEEK FOUR | TERM FOUR

The Year 2 students have been busy getting straight into their learning and have been having lots of fun learning and showing Excellence with all their tasks.

During our Reading sessions we have organised our classroom library books and are continuing to read using various strategies during independent reading.  We are focusing on our skills of using various comprehension strategies to help support with understanding the meaning of the text during our mini lessons. 

During the Writing sessions we have begun to look at writing to instruct with a focus on the structure and vocabulary used.  Students have been busy getting immersed in the text type and understanding what is involved in writing an instructional piece.

STUDENTS OF THE WEEK

With Numeracy, students are focusing on multiplicative thinking.  Students have begun learning about the different strategies used to understand this new topic.  They have been using lots of materials and hands on tasks to better understand multiplicative thinking.

In Inquiry we have begun our ‘Earth and Space Science’ topic in which students have been gaining an understanding around the Earth and Space.  Students are very excited to learn about this topic and have enjoyed their first few lessons.

Students are all engaged and very excited about their learning and the topics we are focusing on.

We are looking forward to continuing to learn lots of amazing things and sharing our learning with our families.
