WEEK FOUR | TERM FOUR

PRINCIPAL'S AWARD

Week TwoWeek Three
Logan - 3AN/A

We’re now almost halfway through Term 4 and heading into the final stretch of what has been a wonderful term so far. I was lucky enough to attend camp this week with our Year 3–6 students, and I have to say — we had so much fun and laughter! The weather was perfect for the adventure-filled activities, and our students displayed outstanding Excellence and Responsibility throughout the three days. A big thank you to our teachers for volunteering their time to make this opportunity possible for our students.

We also have a lot of building and construction activity happening around our school over the coming weeks. I truly appreciate everyone’s patience as we continue to enhance our outdoor spaces and create additional classroom areas to support our students and our growing community.

World Teacher’s Day

Tomorrow we will celebrate World Teachers’ Day—a moment to recognise the incredible work our teachers do every single day.

At Deanside, we’re lucky to have a team of passionate, dedicated educators who go above and beyond to support our students—not just academically, but socially and emotionally too. Whether it’s planning engaging lessons, checking in on wellbeing, or simply being a consistent, caring presence in the classroom, our teachers play a huge role in shaping the culture and success of our school.

A big thank you to our staff for the energy, care, and commitment they bring to our community. We appreciate you!

Curriculum Day

Today marked our final day of our Berry Street Education Model training, and we wrapped up with a powerful focus on the theme of Character.

Throughout this journey, our staff have explored strategies to support student wellbeing, engagement, and resilience through trauma informed practices—and today’s session reminded us of the importance of building strong character in our learners. We reflected on how we can help students develop traits like empathy, perseverance, integrity, and courage, not just in the classroom, but in life.

This training has been a valuable investment in our school culture, and we’re excited to continue embedding these practices into our everyday teaching and learning.

School Building Works update

Our new buildings have arrived and are looking magnificent! Construction will continue over the coming weeks to ensure our classrooms are ready for Step-Up Day in Week 10.

Works will also begin on our Courtyard (asphalt area), which will be resurfaced to address all defects. The Courtyard will be fenced off and closed for repairs from 5 November to approximately 19 November

Once this project is complete, our oval will close from the beginning of December and remain closed into the new year. A specialist sports field company will be resurfacing the oval with new soil and grass, giving it time to establish over the long break.

We’re excited to see these improvements take shape and can’t wait to share the finished spaces with our school community!

Council Update on Supervised Crossing

As mentioned in our previous newsletter, a supervised crossing has been approved for Conservatory Drive. This is such a welcome relief and fantastic news! We’ve been consistently communicating and campaigning with the council for a crossing over the past few years, so it’s wonderful to see this project moving ahead.

The map below shows where the new crossing will be located. Construction is scheduled to take place over the summer break, ready for the start of the 2026 school year.
