Year 9 Retreat

Recently, the Year 9 students had the opportunity to experience a night away at the La Trobe University, sleeping in the Glenn College Dorms, as well as a day of participating in the Elephant Ed program. Personally, I enjoyed the retreat very much, as it was a great opportunity and opened my mind to how different a university student’s life is. Unfortunately, only half of the year level were able to stay overnight on the campus, and the rest didn’t due to the extreme hot weather- which was a shame, however they still spent the day at Glenn College doing Elephant Ed. I found this program very important as we were taught topics in sex education that are crucial to learn about. Overall, I definitely think this program should continue as it assures students that it is okay to step outside of their comfort zone, as well as giving them the chance to experience life from a university student’s perspective.
