SSV GWR Intermediate Boys Volleyball

On Tuesday 23rd April, the BHS Intermediate Boys Volleyball team took the long drive to Horsham to compete in the SSV Greater Western Region Intermediate Boys Volleyball competition at St Brigids College. Their first match was against Kings College where the boys won 2 sets to 0. This was followed by a match against St Brigids College which followed in a similar 2 sets to 0 victory. Securing the two victories was all that was required for the team to qualify through to the SSV Intermediate Boys Volleyball State Championships on Wednesday 15th May, at the Dandenong Stadium.Coach Jacob Borner was quietly optimistic about the teams chances at the State Championships after a dominant performance at this event however this was not to be the case as they played some very talented opposition. The highlight of the event for all attending was of course the KFC visit on the way home!

On Wednesday 15th May, the BHS Intermediate Boys Volleyball team had an extremely early 6am start to drive to the Dandenong Stadium for the SSV Intermediate Boys Volleyball State Championships. This competition brings together the best 8 teams from around the state to battle for the SSV State Champion for 2024. The team had drawn Pool A alongside Keysborough Acacia Secondary College, Weeroona College and Eltham High School. Their first match was against Eltham High School where the boys went down 0 sets to 2. The follow on matches against Keysborough Acacia Secondary College and Weeroona College followed a similar 0-2 trend. Unfortunately, the team didn’t secure a win in the pool play, thus couldn’t progress in the finals bracket. None the less the students had a great time and a wonderful experience at an SSV State level event. The team finished in 7th place for the competition. Coach Jacob Borner was looking forward to coaching the team next year when they move into the Senior Division. As tradition, the students stopped at McDonalds on the way home!
