From the Year 4 Classroom

Welcome back to Term 3!

We hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing and refreshing holiday break. Our students have returned with enthusiasm and have quickly settled back into their routines. We have hit the ground running, diving straight into our learning and classroom activities. It has been wonderful to see such a positive start to the term, and we look forward to another busy, productive, and exciting term together.

Literacy: We have begun reading our next class novel, Storm Boy by Colin Thiele. Set in the beautiful Coorong region of South Australia, this classic Australian story follows the life of Mike "Storm Boy" Kingley and his special friendship with Mr Percival, a pelican he rescues and raises. Throughout the novel, students will explore important themes of friendship, belonging, resilience, conservation, and the relationship between people and the natural environment. We look forward to the rich discussions and learning opportunities that this much-loved novel will inspire.

Numeracy:

Our next Mathematics topic is Multiplication and Division. To begin the unit, students completed a pre-assessment to help identify their current understanding and guide future learning. Throughout the coming week, students will develop their skills in partitioning numbers, recalling multiplication and division facts, and applying a range of two- and three-digit multiplication strategies.

Religion: In Religion, we are learning about what it means to be a follower of Jesus. We are exploring the way Jesus lived His life and the actions He took that made Him a compassionate, caring, and inspiring role model for others.

Students will learn about the qualities and traits Jesus demonstrated, such as kindness, forgiveness, love, humility, and respect. We will also investigate stories from the Bible that Jesus shared with His followers and discuss the important lessons they teach us.

Through our learning, students will reflect on how they can follow Jesus’ example in their own lives by showing kindness, helping others, making good choices, and treating everyone with love and respect

Enjoy your week, Year 4 Team
