Dempsey's Digest

The end of term is fast approaching and it’s pretty clear that our students are getting tired after a big term. We continue to see many students and staff battle those colds and flus that are very typical at this time of year. Keeping up with the fluids and early nights can help to battle the bugs as well.

School at Work Tours

We continue to run with our School at Work Tours which gives parents the opportunity to see MECS at work without the polish of an Open Day. Real work, real school. We have had loads of positive feedback from this approach and encourage you to pass this on to your friends. We had a Secondary focused one this week and the next one is on the 1st July with a Kinder and Primary focus.

Ranges TEC Taster nights

A great way to experience Ranges TEC is to enrol your child into a Ranges TEC Taster night, where students get to experience what it might be like to attend our trade school and even make something in the process. The next Taster Night is on the 13th August and you can register your interest, here https://www.rangestec.vic.edu.au/enrolment-enquiry/

Chin Parent Dinner

We had a wonderful evening on the 5th June at the Chin Parent night. We had a lovely meal together and then, through Jenny and Lily interpreting, we were able to share stories and cover some of our parent seminar material. It was a great chance to get together and laugh together as well. Thanks to our Community Advancement and Cultural Liaison teams for making this night so special.

Board News

We are pleased to announce that the 2025/2026 Board delegations were finalised at the June Board meeting held on Tuesday evening.

The new office bearers are as follows:

  • Board Chair: Alison Osborne
  • Vice Chair: Sue Goudswaard
  • Secretary: Cathy Cook
  • Treasurer: Steven King

We extend our sincere thanks to Sue Goudswaard, who is stepping down from the role of Chair but will continue serving on the Board until the end of the year. We are deeply grateful for her faithful leadership and dedicated service over many years.

We also warmly welcome Cathy Cook as a newly appointed member of the Board. Cathy brings with her a wealth of knowledge, wisdom, and a deep passion for Christian education, and we are excited to have her join the team.

We remain incredibly thankful for each of our Board members, who serve our school community with humility, wisdom, and grace. Their voluntary contribution is a significant blessing to MECS.

Cheers,

Michelle
