Chin Parent Dinner

On the evening of Thursday 5 June we had the pleasure of hosting our second Chin Parent Dinner with parents and school leadership staff. The purpose of the dinner was to assist in building relationship and understanding as well as covering some of the elements of the Christian Education Seminars in a condensed and culturally targeted way.

We enjoyed slow cooker curries and rice, explored the New MECS Threads (which have been translated into Chin Hakha language) and Michelle gave an inspiring presentation around the important roles that Home, Church and School play in Christian Education Partnership.

The evening concluded with a short prayer and a focus on the theme of Hope inspired by the devotional of author Paul David Tripp.

True, lasting and secure hope is found in the Lord Almighty.

Hope – the kind that transforms your life, gives rest to your heart and ignites new ways of living – is attached to Him.

Our God is powerful, caring and faithful.

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm & secure.

(Hebrews 6:19)

Hi ruahchannak hi kan nunnak caah a fekmi le a tthawngmi thir cangai bantuk a si. Vancung biakinn puanzar kha lonh in chungchin hmunthiang ah khan kan ruahchannak cu a lut

(Hebru 6:19)

This year at MECS we have close to 40 families in our school (K-12) with a Burmese background specifically from the Chin State, Myanmar. These families are supported by our Cultural Liaison Team with interpreting and translation assistance provided from Jenifer Thlaceu and Lily Kingbawl.
