Multicultural Week 2026: Celebrating Culture, Leadership and Community 

Last week’s Multicultural Week was a vibrant celebration of the cultures, traditions and stories that make Wyndham Central College such a diverse and inclusive community. 

This year's celebrations were particularly significant as they were shaped and led by our Cultural Leaders, who worked alongside staff throughout the year to help plan and deliver many of the week's events. Their ideas, creativity and leadership were reflected across the program, creating meaningful opportunities for students to share their cultures, learn from one another and strengthen connections across the school. Throughout the week, students participated in a range of activities that celebrated cultural diversity and promoted understanding, respect and belonging. A particular highlight was seeing students confidently step into leadership roles, working together to bring events to life and creating memorable experiences for their peers. 

Mid week culminated in our Multicultural Family Night, which attracted more than 1,000 attendees. Families, students, staff, alumni and community members came together to enjoy an evening filled with cultural performances, food, music and celebration. The event showcased the incredible diversity of our community and highlighted the powerful role culture plays in bringing people together. 

One of the most memorable aspects of the evening was the way generations and cultures united through performance, storytelling and shared experiences. From student performers to family members taking to the stage, the event reflected the strong sense of pride, identity and belonging that exists within our school community. 

Multicultural Week continues to be an important celebration on our school calendar, providing opportunities for students to embrace their identities, learn about others and celebrate the many cultures that enrich our college every day.
