Assistant Principal's Report

Welcome back to Term 3! It has been wonderful to see our students return with such enthusiasm, positive attitudes, and a genuine eagerness to learn. The energy around the school has been fantastic, and it has been pleasing to witness classrooms quickly settle into productive learning routines. The cold weather has hit with force over the last few weeks, and it has been great to see so many students embrace the new puffer jacket and vest. With winter weather comes winter colds and flues, please be considerate of others and keep children home if they are experiencing visible symptoms of illness.

This term promises to be an exciting and busy one, with many learning opportunities, sporting events, excursions, and school activities planned. We’ve already had a busy few weeks with our Arts camp and Multicultural week. We encourage all students to become actively involved, challenge themselves, and make the most of the experiences available to them. Book week is coming up in week 7 and this year students are invited to dress up along with staff in their favourite book character and we can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with.

At Wyndham Central College, we continue to focus on fostering respectful relationships, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging. We are proud of the way our students demonstrate our school values each day through their kindness, responsibility, and willingness to support one another. This was aptly demonstrated during Multicultural week when hundreds of students turned up every day to our outdoor amphitheatre area to cheer on their fellow students in their performances.

I’d like to thank Mr. Scott Lynch for filling in to support the Year 8 team while Mr. Allan Nilsen was on extended leave. I would encourage you all to have consistent communication with your child’s tutor teacher and leaders and coordinators as necessary. We are here to support and are readily available by email and phone. 

Term three is all about locking into learning and making choices around subjects and electives for 2027. Career planning is also a focus in pastoral time for Year 8's and 9's and we hope conversations are being had around the kitchen table regarding what your children are selecting for future learning. 

Thank you again for your ongoing support of our school community. We look forward to another rewarding term of learning, growth, and achievement, and we wish all of our students and families a successful and enjoyable Term 3.

Year Level Leader's Report Year 8

It has been another busy and exciting start to the term at Wyndham Central College. We would like to thank our Year 8 students for their enthusiasm and positive participation throughout our recent school events. Below are some of the highlights and important reminders for our Year 8 community.

Celebrating Multicultural Week

A huge thank you to all students and families who participated in our Multicultural Week celebrations.

Our Cultural Dress Day, Fashion Show and Multicultural Family Evening were wonderful opportunities to celebrate the rich diversity within our school community. It was fantastic to see so many Year 8 students proudly representing their cultures and supporting one another, especially the posters that went up around the year 8 spaces.

Thank you to all staff, students and families who helped make these events such a success.

The Addams Family Musical

The wait is over! Our school production of The Addams Family was held last week.

We encouraged all Year 8 families to come along and support the incredible talents of our students. School productions are always a highlight of the year, showcasing months of hard work, creativity and teamwork.

It was great to see many Year 8 students and their families in the audience.

Sporting Success

We also wish our Year 7–10 Boys Soccer Team the very best as Wyndham Central hosts interschool competitions.

Looking Ahead

Year 8 students are encouraged to:

• Continue maintaining excellent attendance.
• Stay organised with assessment tasks and homework.
• Check Compass regularly for upcoming events and important information.
• Speak with teachers or the Year Level Team if they require support with their learning or wellbeing.

Consistent attendance and organisation help students achieve their personal best throughout the semester.

Asking for support is a positive step, and our staff are here to help every student succeed.

Free Parenting Program

Parents and carers may also be interested in the free online Tuning into Teens program.

This evidence-based six-week course helps parents strengthen communication and emotional connection with young people aged 10–18 years while supporting adolescent wellbeing.

Year Level Leader's Report Year 9 

It has been an exciting and eventful time for our Year 9 students, with plenty of opportunities to celebrate, lead and look towards the future. Year 9s have started Term 3 exceptionally well. It has been such a jam-packed term already!

Stepping into the Future

During Step into Your Future Week, Year 9 students began exploring the many possibilities available to them beyond the classroom. The Future You Expo encouraged students to think about their interests, strengths and aspirations while discovering different pathways for their future.

Well done to all our Year 9 students for embracing these experiences and continuing to contribute positively to our school community!

Multicultural Week

Year 9 students enthusiastically participated in Multicultural Week, celebrating the many cultures, traditions and backgrounds that make up our school community. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to learn from one another and recognise the value of diversity. Well done to everyone who performed and participated in one of our best Multicultural Weeks yet!

Tutor Challenge Champions

Congratulations to 9B, who claimed the Tutor Challenge Cup! Their teamwork, enthusiasm and determination earned them the title. It came down to the final weeks in what was the tightest race to the finish I have seen in a long time. Well done, 9B!

This terms tutor challenge has started with a bang. It will be fascinating to see which tutor group will take home the cup.

Year 9 Assembly

This term Year 9 is taking control of our year level assemblies. This week 9E hosted assembly, and what an assembly it was!  A big thank you and congratulations to 9E for a fantastic assembly. Students demonstrated confidence, organisation and leadership while representing their tutor group. Great job 9E!

Congratulations to all our Year 9 students for their enthusiasm, leadership and participation throughout these events. We look forward to seeing them continue to embrace new opportunities and make the most of the weeks ahead.
