English News!

During Term 3, Year 9 English classes have been focussed on using persuasive techniques to develop an oral presentation of an issue. 

The most common issues being explored by students are: the rise of AI, mental health support for teens, and more ‘hands on’ learning in schools. 

So, any parents struggling for conversation with their teen might try discussing one of those issues over the dinner table. 

Students also had great fun adding literary devices to their ‘Crafting Texts’ creative piece.

The students voted on the best metaphor and simile created by a classmate. 

Winning student metaphor: ‘her eyes were glittering lanterns’  stephanie G

Best Shakespearean metaphor (as voted by students): “His face is all carbuncles, and whelks, and knobs, and flames of fire” (Henry V) 

Students were also tasked with visually depicting the Shakespearean metaphor! Congratulations to Riley F and Cooper C for winning the student vote with their artwork!
