Work Experience
Work experience was a great success, with the feedback from employers during teacher check-ins being overwhelmingly positive.
Students were described as punctual, respectful, enthusiastic and willing to learn, and it was fantastic to hear how well they represented our school in the workplace.
Teachers also really enjoyed visiting students during their placements and seeing them in action. We hope that all students gained valuable workplace experience, confidence and a better understanding of the skills and expectations involved in the world of work.
Thank you to all of our host employers, families, and students for making this year's work experience program such a success.
Learning Mentor – Year 9 & 10 Job Applications
It was wonderful to welcome Alex from Knox Youth Services and Suzie from Headspace, who run a Work and Study program, along with our Year 12 student representative, Bek, to speak with our Year 9 and 10 students about personal branding, employability skills, job applications and resume writing.
Students were actively involved throughout the session, asking questions and sharing their thoughts about entering the workforce. They gained practical tips and information to help them build their confidence and prepare for future employment, as well as learning about the support services available to them through Knox Youth Services and Headspace.
It was a valuable opportunity for our students to hear directly from organisations that support young people with their employment and career pathways, while also connecting with a student who has recently navigated these experiences herself.
Course Selections and Subject Markets
It has been wonderful to see our 2027 subject selection process well underway. It was great to see so many students and families at our VCE Subject Market and information night for students completing VCE in 2027, with students engaging with teachers and current students to learn more about the VCE subjects and pathways on offer and make informed decisions about their future pathways.
Our 2027 Year 9 and 10 students also had the opportunity to explore their subject options through a Junior Subject Market during Learning Mentor.
It was fantastic to see the interaction between students, as well as all the conversations and planning taking place as they considered their future subject choices.
With our VCE course counselling now complete, our Junior Course Counselling appointments will take place next week. Please keep an eye on Compass for your child's scheduled appointment time.
VTAC Applications Now Open
VTAC applications are now open for our Year 12 students planning to continue their studies in 2027. Students have already participated in a VTAC workshop to help them understand the application process, preferences and key dates.
Students will also have the opportunity to meet 1:1 with the Careers Team for individual support with their applications, course choices and pathways.
Further general information and reminders will be provided throughout the application period to ensure students are supported in making informed decisions about their future.
