From the Year 5 Classroom

Welcome back to our Year 5 students and families! We hope you all had a safe and restful break from school. We are officially over halfway through the year and have lots of exciting things on this term.

Literacy -

For the first few weeks of this term we are reading ‘Tom Appleby, Convict Boy’ written by Jackie French. Students have been interested in learning about children who were chimney sweeps in the 1700’s and appreciate not being sold off by their families for 7 shillings to work!

A quick reminder that students are expected to read for a minimum of 80 minutes each week. This is to be documented at school as part of the student's morning routine.

Upcoming dates:

Friday 25th July – Grandparent’s Liturgy 9:45am @ MPB

Thursday 24th July – State Cross Country. Good luck Stevie!

Wednesday 30th July – Wangaratta Winter Sports Day (for some students)

Wednesday 13th August – Pupil free day

Monday 18th August – Excursion to Fruit Flying Circus

Friday 22nd August - Lightning premiership

Have a great week!
