From the Year 4 Classroom

Welcome to Term 3!!
This nine-week term is sure to fly by—it promises to be both busy and exciting. We hope everyone had a relaxing holiday and found time to rest and recharge.
Lions Club Public Speaking – Well done to Farley Simmons and Mackenzie Wright who represented our school so beautifully at the next round on 20th July. Congratulations to Farley who made it through to the next round!!
In Reading, we have begun our new novel, Storm Boy by Colin Thiele. It's a touching and beautifully written story that explores themes of friendship, nature, isolation, and compassion.
In Writing, we have started exploring the purpose, structure, and features of an Information Report. As part of this learning, we will be investigating what the Coorong is and where it is located. This will help us as we begin planning the first part of our own Information Report.
In Inquiry, we are developing our understanding of community and citizenship by exploring how decisions are made democratically, the role of local government and its services, the difference between rules and laws, and how culture, community, and Country shape identity.
In Religion, we are learning about the parables of Jesus. Throughout this unit, we will explore the structure, form, and content of various parables. We will also have the opportunity to study one parable in depth, considering both its context and meaning.
We are looking forward to seeing all our Grandparents this Friday at 9.45 at our Grandparents Liturgy.
