From the Year 6 Classroom

Welcome Back!
Dear Parents and Families,
Welcome to Term 3! We’re excited to be back and ready for another wonderful term of learning, leadership and growth in Year 6. The students have returned with great energy, and we’re already off to a strong start.
Literacy
This term, we’ve begun a new literature study on the novel Once by Morris Gleitzman. This powerful story is already sparking thoughtful discussions as students explore themes of courage, friendship, and resilience through the eyes of the main character, Felix.
Numeracy
We are currently consolidating our earlier learning on fractions—revisiting key concepts such as equivalence, simplifying, and applying fractions in real-world contexts. Later in the term, we will move into topics like decimals and percentages.
Inquiry – Government
Our Term 3 Inquiry unit focuses on Government and Democracy. Students will explore how decisions are made in Australia, the roles of different government levels, and how they can be active and informed citizens.
