Japan Super Science Fair

At the start of November, when the year 10s and 11s had their exams, we traveled to Kyoto, Japan, for the Japan Super Science Fair.

It was an incredible experience where we collaborated internationally on our Science projects, explored many cultures, including Japan’s, and made new friends.

We were welcomed at the opening ceremony on the first day and did a science activity about AI, where we collaborated with other international students to make a poster.

Jiwon and Natalie presented their project about oyster mushroom mycelium’s purification properties. Liam also presented his poster about Wind turbines to many students.

We got to watch an incredible array of science experiments and talks. We also had a cultural booth where we gave people Vegemite; you can guess their reactions!

Other culture booths were very cool; they all had interactive activities or snacks.

The visit to Fushimi Inari Shrine was also an outstanding heritage site where we got to see our fortune, good or not. Shortly after, we went shopping around Downtown Kyoto and spent a lot of money.

The local foods were delicious and we took a funny sticker photo as well.

The next day, we had a farewell party and a closing ceremony to say goodbye to our buddies and friends. Then we had to come back for exams :’)
