Water Polo Finalists

Yr 9/10 Water Polo Team
Yr 9/10 Water Polo Team

During the semi-final of the Year 7/8 Water Polo team on Friday night, there was a scoring error that occurred while versing Taroona which affected the outcome of the close game. Afterwards, Taroona thought that there was an error with the score and they honestly and fairly believe that Mount Carmel won. This means that the girls will compete in the Grand Final on Friday night against Friends Red at 6:15pm at the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre.

Congratulations to the team and all the best for the game.

Other congratulations to the Year 9/10 combined Water Polo team who competed in their semi-final on Friday night, however unfortunately lost to St Mary's after a very close game.

Primary Hockey

The Primary Hockey rosters finished up on Saturday. The students have done a fabulous job committing to the roster on a Saturday morning.  Well done particularly to the Early Years students who were trying Hockey for the first time.  The experienced Year 2 students have done a great job supporting the younger and less experienced players in their first season.

Thanks to all the families for their support with these teams, and particularly Kathryn Jakimowicz, Cassandra Butler and Grace Lyon for Coaching and Managing teams, and students Sophia McNulty, Keshi Kesavanarayanan, Sophie Halliday, Evie Gmelig and Eliza Fleming for taking lunch time trainings.

The Year 3 - 6 students have another opportunity to play school hockey in Term 3 with afternoon rosters at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre on turf.

Secondary Netball

Well done to all our Netball teams, who concluded their rosters last week.

It was wonderful to see many students having a go at Netball.  We had many students playing Netball for the first time, which is not always easy.  The improvement in teams as the season progressed was outstanding. Special thanks to our coaches and team managers Jo Banks-Smith, Chloe Bibari, Ash Nally, Hayley Stevens, Hannah Fleck, Tara Douglas and Shantel Forrest. These teams are only possible with the support of parents/carers and family members.

The Year 8 team, finished their season in agonising 3rd place, from 9 teams, narrowly missing out on the Grand Final.

Netball and Football Round Robin

Last Friday all Year 5 and 6 students participated in the STCPSSA (Catholics Association) Netball and Football round robin. The day was about participation, teamwork, sportsmanship and learning.

Some girls had never played either netball or football before but did a great job at getting involved and improved throughout the day. The girls who were more experienced at the sports showed great leadership and supported those who were new. Ash Nally, the coach of the Year 6 White team, said that “the girls were very tired by the end of the day, but amazing to see their confidence and understanding grow with each game.”

In Term 3, the roster continues on Friday afternoons.

Badminton Championships

On Friday 20 June, 23 students in Years 7-9 competed in the Hobart High Schools Badminton Championships at the Tasmanian Badminton Centre. The girls played in single and double matches throughout the day. It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase their skills that they had been improving throughout the term in the weekly roster on Friday afternoons.
