Students recently participated in two exciting enrichment opportunities designed to extend their learning and build connections.

Year 10 CET 90+ Day Brings Students Together Across Colleges

Selected students from Year 10 students from Mount Carmel College and other Catholic colleges came together for the  CET 90+ Day. Led by CET’s School Service Leader for Gifted/Extended Learning, Jakki Hardman, and GYC’s Academic Research Leader, Daniel Purton, the day focused on providing students with strategies for success in senior secondary studies. Special guest Craig Deayton, Southern Principal Lead and former GYC Principal, inspired students to pursue their passions and strive for excellence.

LEO Students in Years 3–6 Tackle Higher-Order Thinking

Meanwhile, Mount Carmel’s LEO (Learning Extension Opportunity) students in Years 3–6 attended a special face-to-face enrichment day at St Virgil’s College. This day allowed online learners to collaborate in person with other students, helping to build social and academic connections.

Students worked in groups to solve challenging higher-order thinking problems and participated in sessions run by the Lyceum Centre in Sydney, a centre dedicated to gifted education. These activities encouraged students to stretch their thinking, develop creative solutions, and learn alongside their peers.

Both events provided  opportunities for  students to deepen their skills, develop confidence, and celebrate the talent within our Catholic school communities. We are proud of all our students who took part and look forward to seeing how these experiences inspire their continued learning.
