Learning Enhancement Excursion

In July, our Middle School Links and Literacy Support students enjoyed a guided tour of the Melbourne Aquarium. This hands‑on, interactive experience brought key science concepts to life, including food webs, classification, marine habitats, animal adaptations, and conservation.

Students were fascinated by the wide variety of marine species and were able to make meaningful connections between their classroom learning and real‑world biological environments.

Inside the aquarium, we saw a lot of sea animals, like a crocodile, king crabs, clownfish, sharks, seahorses, an octopus, stingrays, jellyfish and a lot more. Paul T (7.1)

Coowonga, the saltwater crocodile, is very aggressive and confident. Underneath the stingray’s body is its face, which looked like it was smiling at us. Delilah M (7.2)

I learnt that sea anemones and clownfish are symbiotic and that clownfish can handle the sea anemone’s sting. We saw the penguins being hand fed by the Sealife staff. It was my first time seeing sharks and we even saw an eel. Helen M (7.1)
