From the Principal

Welcome to Semester 2 at Oxley Christian College. It has been a joy to welcome students and families back for the start of a new semester. The opening weeks of Term 3 have been filled with many special events, providing valuable opportunities for our community to connect, celebrate, and flourish together. We are grateful for the way our students, staff, and families continue to contribute to the vibrant life of our College.

Curriculum Week 

Our staff engaged in a wide range of professional learning and planning activities during the recent Curriculum Week (13 – 17 July). Throughout the week, our staff valued the opportunity to intentionally plan our Christ-centred curriculum to help students encounter Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. Through our Biblical Curriculum Framework, Oxley Christian College seeks to support the holistic formation of every student. We believe that education is not simply the transmission of knowledge, but, as Clark and Jain advocate, “the transmission of values, culture, and the proper ordering of loves” (Clark & Jain, 2021, p. xxiii). Grounded in Christ and informed by the biblical call to love God and our neighbour (Matthew 22:37-39), our teaching and learning aim to cultivate Scholars of Character who embody wisdom, virtue, and a thirst for truth. Thank you to our staff for their dedication throughout Curriculum Week in preparing our Christ-centred curriculum for the semester ahead. A special thank you to Mr Andrew Piper (Head of Curriculum and Assessment – Secondary School) and Mrs Vicky Kirby-Beach (Assistant Head of Junior School / Teaching & Learning) for their leadership in this area. 

Mega Chapel

The start of Term 3 was marked by our traditional Mega Chapel service, with students and staff gathering as a College community to worship God together. Mega Chapel is a timely reminder that Christ is central to all we do at Oxley Christian College, a sentiment echoed in scripture in 1 Corinthians 3:11. We are grateful to everyone who supported this event, and we particularly thank Pastor Matt Daly for his dedication in bringing our community together for this special occasion.

100 Days of Prep

During Week 2 of Term 3, we celebrated 100 Days of School with our 2026 Prep students. Congratulations to the students, parents, and staff on this special milestone in our youngest students' learning journey. It was wonderful to see our students dress up and celebrate their successful transition into Prep at Oxley. We continue to pray for our Prep students during this important phase of their education at Oxley. Thank you to Mrs Emma Ashmore, Mrs Janine Boer and Mrs Ruth Armstrong for everything they do to support our Prep students as their Home Group teachers. 

Productions  

Our Secondary School students delighted audiences during the performances of Disney's Newsies between 5 and 8 August. I commend the students and staff who spent many months preparing for this production. I am sure many will agree that the production’s quality reflected those months of preparation. It is incredibly special to see students across multiple year levels work together to achieve a final product of such high quality. Thank you, in particular, to Miss Claire Hogan (Producer & Co-Director) and Mrs Gabrielle Bail (Co-Director) for their leadership supporting this production. Congratulations to all the students and staff who supported this production. 

Our Junior School students and staff are also preparing for the Junior School production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang JR., which will be staged later this term. I trust the upcoming performances will be significant milestones in our students' learning journey and a special highlight for our families. 

As we journey through Term 3 together, may we continue to encourage one another and fix our eyes on what truly matters, inspired by Jesus, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6).
