There is a new exhibition at The Women's Museum and Old Gaol.

A new Exhibition and Children's Program is opening at the Women's Museum of Australia. Illuminating History: The Australian Searchlight Women of World War II.

The exhibition highlights the work of the Australian Women's Army Service, with a spotlight on the women who operated the searchlights across Australia. One of the key roles for the women in the Searchlight Battalion was to identify enemy and allied aeroplanes. The Children's Program allows the young ones the opportunity to search for silhouettes of the planes, from WWII on the Old Gaol site, providing a glimpse into the challenging task these women were assigned. Come and join us to launch our newest exhibition at the Women's Museum of Australia on International Museums Day, 18th May at 3pm.
