Simple Heartfelt rituals

Hello families! Welcome to our Cassia news!

This week on our warm bread, straight from the oven, we loved our freshly churned butter and our Cassia apple jam! It was a feast! The children not only experienced tasting the food they have made from scratch but also the sensory smells, taste and touch. We all had a nibble of the apple jam before we put it on our bread…and it was good!

Every day in Cassia, we sit down and eat together. We share food we have made; we give thanks for the food we eat; we talk to each other and we listen to each other. In the busyness and uncertainty of the world we live in, simple heartfelt rituals can bring healing and hope and can be a balm to our overactive nervous systems.

"The way we do even the simplest, most ordinary everyday things - such as sitting down to a meal together - can help children connect with the world as a good, generous and sustaining place, and it gives them a sense of wholeness and belonging. If we can engender in ourselves real thankfulness towards the earth, our children feel this and are nourished by it".

The weather has turned! Cool crispness is in the air! Please send your child to school in layers of clothes at least 3, as winter descends upon us. Then as the day warms up, the children can remove their layers. Also, at this time of year, the ground is growing cold! Shoes stay on when outside! Don’t forget to bring their named, non-slip socks/slippers to Cassia this week!

Blessings,
