Year 10

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Term 4 has been a busy term for Year 10. As we approach the end of another incredible year, it's a fitting moment to reflect on the journey we've undertaken together in Year 10. This year has been nothing short of extraordinary, filled with growth, learning, and unforgettable experiences that have shaped us into the individuals we are becoming. Congratulations Year 10 for completion of Stage 5 Course.

Beyond the classroom, Year 10 thrived through various extracurricular activities, students enthusiastically participated in a diverse range of activities. Students attended ‘Be Money Smart’ excursion at TAFE NSW Liverpool. From this program, students had the opportunity to learn how to read contracts and understand superannuation, as well as how to manage insurance and debt so they can be prepared for their future.

Students also participated in Skills Roads Workshop. This program was designed to give students some practical skills to help them become more prepared for workforce. All students participated in a Skills Road workshop in which they were able identify the skills and attributes they already possess, and which careers would be best suited to these skills. Practical interview and resume building advice was also given in each of the workshops. Select students were also able to be involved in a First Aid Course, White Card Course, and a Barista Course.

We wanted acknowledge Year 10 students that were invited to Recognition Morning tea and all the award recipients. The primary purpose of a student recognition morning tea is to celebrate the achievements of students at our school. These achievements can vary widely, from academic excellence, attendance, and leadership roles. It is not only a moment of recognition but also a platform for building connections, fostering a positive school culture, and inspiring students to continue striving for their best. Such events play a crucial role in nurturing well-rounded and motivated individuals who are prepared for future success.

As we approach the holiday season and the well-deserved break, let's take a moment to express our gratitude. Thank you to the incredible students for their hard work, the dedicated teachers for their guidance, and the parents and guardians for their unwavering support.

Looking ahead, Year 11 awaits with new challenges and opportunities. We are confident that the skills and experiences gained in Year 10 will propel our students to even greater heights in the coming years.

Year 12

Parents and Guardians,

Our students have officially started Year 12!

All teachers have been delivering HSC content this term which will be examined in their HSC next year and all students would have also completed their first HSC assessment task. Therefore, it is strongly advised that all students maintain their attendance and punctuality to provide themselves with the best opportunities to succeed in their final year of school.

We would like to congratulate our 2024 prefect body once again; consisting of Albert Loketi and Jessica Purcell as School Captains; Khoder El Helou and Telesia Pine as Vice Captains and Cam Chuong, Jaylyn Munoz and Jazzlyn Munoz as Prefects. We are certain that they will represent their Year 12 cohort, school, and families proudly.

We also hope that all Year 12s will exhibit positive traits of leadership, self-discipline, conscientiousness, respect and pride to the whole school body. We are now the role models of the school and need to set up a positive legacy.

At James Busby we celebrate all aspects of excellence and thus we would like to acknowledge Seren Vo, Marciel Jumawan, Diego Martinez-Punzo and Yasmin El Ahmad’s participation in the School Spectacular Choir. We are proud that these students were able to represent the school so well, achieve their dream and were able to sing their hearts out.

Year 12 had their first fundraiser event at Halloween. Students were able to wear their scariest mufti and buy a lolly bag in the hopes of securing the golden ticket; to be the winner of a 10kg chocolate bar! All the proceeds raised will go towards the payments of all the festivities that will be held next year to honour Year 12. A big shout out to Alex Khuu who has been a great salesman in selling sweets to raise funds. Alex is already up to his twelfth box.
