Years 7 - 9

Year 7

What a year! It has been a remarkable journey of growth and achievement that our wonderful Year 7 students have embarked upon in 2023.

Our Year 7 cohort has demonstrated a commitment to learning, embracing challenges with enthusiasm and resilience. From the classrooms to extracurricular activities, each student has been a beacon of curiosity and a source of inspiration for us all.

Excellence continues to be a cornerstone of our students' endeavours. A very well done to all the students who received Academic, Achievement, Attendance, Deputy and Merit Certificates. Through a rigorous curriculum and dedicated teaching, our Year 7 scholars have not only absorbed knowledge but also cultivated critical thinking skills that will undoubtedly serve as a strong foundation for their future pursuits.

Beyond the classroom, our students have actively engaged in a myriad of extracurricular activities, showcasing their talents and passions. From sports to the arts, they have exemplified the spirit of teamwork, creativity, and discipline, fostering a well-rounded approach to personal development.

As we celebrate their accomplishments, we also recognize the importance of fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. Our Year 7 students have formed lasting friendships, creating a community that values diversity and encourages collaboration.

Looking ahead, the journey for our Year 7 students is filled with exciting opportunities for growth and discovery. We are confident that their continued dedication, combined with the guidance of our exceptional educators, will pave the way for even greater achievements in the years to come.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire James Busby community – parents, teachers, and students alike – for contributing to the success and vibrancy of our Year 7 experience. Together, we look forward to shaping a future where each student's potential is nurtured and celebrated.

Wishing you all a wonderful and restful holiday season.

Looking forward to seeing your wonderful faces next year as you start Year 8.

Love and Light,

Year 8

Dear Year 8,

Thank you for another outstanding term. We are the best grade in the school and I have, as always, I have the data to back this claim up! Once again, this term Year 8 have earned more Positive Sentral entries and more merits than any other grade in the school. I am so grateful to have such a polite, respectful and hardworking cohort of kids.

Term 4 has been another stellar term. Our students have been involved in many programs and excursions, the biggest being School Spectacular. Congratulations our stunning songbirds – Gardenia Tupu, Cindy Luu and Avril Danh and our dashing dancers – Tallis Dumont, Gavin Limn-Ward, Karma Leeding-Newby, Kelli Newbold, Matthew Toma and Sam La. This extraordinary performance no doubt has sparked a passion for performing in our students and created memories for a lifetime. Thank you so much to Ms Cattanach for coordinating this opportunity for our students.

Next year we embark on Stage 5 – Year 9! With this new stage comes new responsibilities and opportunities. I look forward to watching you thrive in your elective subjects.

Mr Sanchez and I would like to wish our grade and our extended school community a happy and safe holiday and a Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates.

Looking forward to 2024,

Ms Hall and Mr Sanchez
