Student Support Officer Update

Another super busy term for the students at James Busby High School. Our Year 9’s completed another term with the Living Out Loud Health Promotion Workshops delivered by Mani Sidara from Fairfield Liverpool Youth Health Team. We are extremely grateful to work in partnership with Mani and know the students look forward to attending the workshops covering topics such as Mental Health, Consent, Healthy Relationships, Drugs/Alcohol/Vaping, and an overview of the Youth Health Service.

We are so excited to be able to work with Bruce Pikula (Multicultural Community Liaison Officer) Liverpool PAC. Our student love engaging with Bruce and utilise the activities learnt from his workshops within the school community……. “Tripple H being the most popular question asked, “Who is your hero?”, “What is your highlight?” and “What is your hardship?" Bruce also bought along Will to Succeed – who specialise in interactive training programs to assist people with personal development and goal setting.

Our Aboriginal students have worked the entire year with Souths Cares Liverpool Opportunity Hub engaging with Rhys, Nekaya and Zipporah. We are appreciative for the cultural opportunities Souths Cares create for our students and are looking forward to working with them again in 2024.

A small selection of our Year 10 boys worked with the Inspire 180 program. This program created a space for open communication, understanding, breaking down barriers and fostering a sense of belonging. As we celebrate the early successes of the program we are confident that this initiative will continue to flourish and positively impact the lives of our students. We look forward to watching the boys continue to grow and achieve their goals that will undoubtedly emerge from this program.

I would like to extend my gratitude to all the amazing services we have worked with during 2023 and am looking forward to another busy year ahead for our JBHS students. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe New Year.

Julie 😊
