Senior School Report

Term 3 has been another busy and rewarding term for our Senior School students, filled with opportunities for learning, personal growth, celebration and connection. Across Years 10, 11 and 12, we have continued to reinforce our college values of Respect, Excellence, Innovation and Community, while supporting students to achieve their personal best.

Our Year 10 students have enjoyed a range of experiences this term, including course counselling, the Athletics Carnival and Year 10 Formal. Course counselling provided a valuable opportunity for students and families to explore future pathways and make informed decisions about Year 11 and 12.

We also congratulated multiple for their consistent positive recognition through Compass as well as achieving 100% attendance so far in 2026. We encourage all students to continue prioritising attendance, punctuality and readiness to learn as they prepare for the next stage of their Senior School journey.

Our Year 11 students have continued to demonstrate determination, initiative, creativity and commitment throughout Term 3. A highlight was the development of the 2027 Year 12 jacket, We look forward to seeing the Class of 2027 proudly wearing their jackets next year.

The final year 11 assembly celebrated student work, Values Award recipients and the importance of maintaining strong learning habits as students prepare for Year 12 in 2027.

Term 3 has been a significant period for our inaugural Year 12 cohort as students completed their final Unit 4 assessments in VCE and VCE VM and undertook practice examinations in preparation for their final examinations.

Alongside their academic commitments, students enjoyed opportunities to celebrate their final year, including Year 12 Pyjama Day and our whole-college Footy Day. These events provided valuable opportunities to strengthen friendships, celebrate school spirit and create lasting memories.

As our students approach the completion of their secondary schooling, we acknowledge their perseverance, commitment and contribution to the developing culture and traditions of Bemin Secondary College. They have played an important role in shaping our Senior School, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements in the weeks ahead.

As we enter Term 4, our focus remains on strong attendance, respectful behaviour, readiness to learn and continued academic growth. We encourage our Year 10 students to prepare for Year 11, our Year 11 students to finish the year with purpose, and our Year 12 students to approach their final examinations with confidence and determination.

Thank you to our staff and families for their ongoing support and commitment to our students. Together, we continue to build a Senior School culture where every student is supported to learn, grow and leave their legacy.

Culture is Our Strength. Everyone Belongs.

Term 3 has been action packed for our cohort with course counseling, athletics carnival, year 10 formal alongside many of our students undertaking work experience and a variety of school experiences. The year 10 sub-school team are proud of the growth shown by our students throughout the term. With only one term left for 2026, we will be continuing to focus on supporting our cohort to build positive habits at school to set them up for success in VCE and VCE-VM.

Course counselling

Week 1 of term 3 saw our students and families complete course counseling with staff at the College. It was fabulous to hear our students' goals and career paths, seeking out support and questions and figuring out the right year 11 and 12 pathway ahead.

Schoolwide Positive Behaviour (SWPB)

By term 3 we know our students know the College values of Respect, Excellence, Innovation and Community. Students who demonstrate these values consistently or go above and beyond are recognised through positive chronicles on Compass which are visible to families. We encourage you to check these posts and celebrate our students' successes.

The year 10 team would like to highlight 5 students who received consistent positive recognition from staff in term 3:

Khushman Rai

Devarsh Prajapati

Aamir Ashfak Mohamed

Emily Chen

Chelsea Lockwood

Attendance

Regular and consistent attendance plays a vital role in the success of our Year 10 students, as each lesson builds essential knowledge, skills and confidence for the future. Being present also means arriving on time and ready to learn, this ensures students do not miss important instructions and develops positive habits that will support them beyond the school walls. As a cohort, this is an important area for us, where we encourage all students to take pride in their commitment to growth, learning and improvement.

At our year 10 assembly we celebrated our students with 100% attendance for 2026. Well done to these students and their commitment to school.

Formal

During Week 5, our Year 10 Sub-School, with the support of our Formal Committee, hosted a fantastic Year 10 Formal for our cohort. With a Hollywood Red Carpet theme, students arrived in amazing outfits and brought plenty of energy to the dance floor. The evening included awards such as Best Dressed, Best Dance and Best Hairstyle, along with fun activities including a photo scavenger hunt and Guess the Song.

It was a memorable night filled with plenty of laughter, dancing and great memories. We look forward to next year’s formal and seeing if the next cohort can match the energy and dance moves of this year’s Year 10s!

Year 12 Jacket Design

Gallery Image

Over the Term 2 holidays, our Year 11 students were invited to begin thinking about an important Senior School milestone: the design of the 2027 Year 12 jacket.

The response from students was outstanding. We received a total of 20 unique designs for consideration. Each submission reflected different ideas about what it means to be a senior student at Bemin Secondary College, incorporating elements of school pride, cohort identity and the traditions that make the Year 12 jacket such a significant part of the final year of schooling.

The designs were reviewed by our Senior Jacket Design Committee, who carefully considered each submission. The committee met on several occasions to discuss the strengths of each design, taking into account factors such as creativity, practicality, student appeal and how effectively the design represented the graduating Class of 2027. While selecting a final design was no easy task, the quality of submissions demonstrated the enthusiasm and commitment of our Year 11 students to leaving their mark on the college.

Following extensive discussion and deliberation, the committee shortlisted four outstanding designs. These final designs were then presented to the entire Year 11 cohort, giving students the opportunity to have their say in an important decision that will help shape their Senior School experience.

The voting process ensured that the final jacket design was chosen by students, for students. It provided the cohort with a chance to contribute to a tradition that they will proudly wear throughout their final year of secondary school. Beyond being a piece of uniform, the Year 12 jacket represents belonging, achievement and the shared journey of a graduating class. It is a symbol of the friendships, experiences and memories that students have built throughout their time at Bemin Secondary College and a reminder that they are preparing to enter their final year of schooling.

We would like to thank all students who submitted a design and contributed to the process. The creativity, effort and school pride displayed throughout the competition made the final decision both exciting and challenging.

Students and families are reminded that orders for the 2027 Year 12 jackets will close on Thursday 17 September. To ensure jackets are delivered in time for the commencement of Year 12, no further orders will be accepted after this date. A secondary order will be placed during 2027; however, students who order during this initial window will be guaranteed inclusion in the first production run and delivery schedule.

We look forward to seeing the Class of 2027 proudly wearing their jackets as they begin their final year at Bemin Secondary College.

Year 11 Celebration Committee

It all began with one collective question:

“How do we want to celebrate our Year 11 journey?”

The Year 11 Celebration Day Committee brought students together to imagine what an end-of-year celebration could look like. Around the classroom, ideas were thrown out, challenged, reshaped and built upon. Some ideas were ambitious, some unexpected, and some began with nothing more than, “What if we…?”

Students were passionate yet receptive to feedback, coming to the profound understanding that celebration too requires commitment and rigour; an achievable plan. The committee became a space where students had a voice. They discussed what they wanted their year level to experience, considered what would be realistic and achievable, and worked together to turn scattered ideas into something valuable.

But the conversation did not stop at brainstorming.

The students took their ideas and transformed them into a formal proposal for an end-of-year activity. They considered the purpose of the event, activities, logistics, student engagement, and what would make the experience memorable for the Year 11 cohort.

What began as a collection of ideas around a table became something much bigger: a proposal shaped by student voice, collaboration and initiative.

As the saying goes, leadership does not always begin with a title. Sometimes, it begins with a student raising their hand and saying,

“I have an idea.” and others supporting that idea.

And sometimes, the most meaningful celebrations begin long before the celebration itself. We congratulate our students for their efforts, and look forward to how they are able to breathe life into what was once a floating thought in their minds.

Legacy in Learning Awards

At Bemin Secondary College, we believe that success in Senior School is built on consistent effort, perseverance and a commitment to learning. This term, we are proud to introduce our Legacy in Learning Awards, recognising Year 11 students who have achieved a satisfactory result in all of their VCE or VCE VM studies for Unit 1.

These awards celebrate more than academic achievement alone. They acknowledge the habits and behaviours that underpin success in Senior School: attending regularly, meeting deadlines, engaging positively in class, seeking support when needed and demonstrating resilience when faced with challenges. Achieving satisfactory results across all subjects requires sustained commitment throughout the semester and reflects the dedication students have shown to their learning.

The ‘Legacy in Learning Award’ recognise students who have established a strong foundation for future success. Whether undertaking VCE or VCE VM, these students have demonstrated that consistent application and a willingness to engage with their studies can lead to positive outcomes. Their achievements serve as an example to their peers and highlight the importance of taking every learning opportunity seriously.

While we celebrate those students who have achieved this milestone for Unit 1, we also encourage all Year 11 students to view this as an attainable goal. As we continue through Unit 2, there is still time for more students to join this list by maintaining strong attendance, completing coursework, preparing for assessments and seeking support when challenges arise.

We congratulate all recipients of the Legacy in Learning Award and encourage every student to continue striving for excellence as they progress through their Senior School journey.

Week 10 Assembly: A Celebration of Student Work and Achievement

Gallery Image

As we concluded Term 3, students came together for our final year level assembly, providing an important opportunity to celebrate achievements, reflect on the term that has been, and set a clear focus for the months ahead.

A key message of the assembly was preparing for a strong start to Year 12 and ensuring that every student finishes the year with purpose and momentum. As students move into the final term of Year 11, the habits they establish now will play a significant role in their success next year. We reinforced the importance of arriving at school and class on time, demonstrating respectful behaviour towards peers and staff, and being ready to learn each lesson by bringing the necessary equipment and engaging positively in classroom learning.

The assembly also provided an opportunity to showcase the outstanding work taking place across our classrooms throughout Term 3. Students were able to see examples of learning from students from Ms Lopez's Unit 2 Business Management class. It was wonderful to celebrate the many ways students have challenged themselves, developed new skills and contributed positively to our learning community. We look to providing more opportunities to showcase student work into Term 4.

A highlight of the assembly was the presentation of our Values Awards. These awards recognise students who consistently demonstrate our college values through their actions, attitudes and commitment to learning. Celebrating these students not only acknowledges their individual achievements but also reinforces the positive culture we continue to build together as a school community.

As we look ahead to Term 4, our focus remains clear: high expectations, strong attendance, respectful behaviour and readiness to learn. We are excited to support our students as they take the next steps in their learning journey and prepare for a successful transition into their final year of secondary education.

Year 12 Formal

Gallery Image

On Thursday 18 June, Year 12 students swapped their uniforms for formal gowns and suits for a very special 'Night Under the Stars' at the 2026 Year 12 Formal!

It was fantastic to see everyone dressed up and enjoying a well earned night away from SACs, coursework and the busy Year 12 schedule. From the moment students arrived, there were plenty of photos, laughs and excitement.

The dance floor certainly got a workout, with students (and a few staff!) showing off their best moves. Students also got their competition on in a table vs. table ‘guess the song’ trivia.

Between the dancing, photos and laughs it was great to see the cohort enjoying their time together and making more memories before their final year comes to an end.

Year 12 can be a challenging and busy year, so the formal was a chance to put school work aside for an evening and celebrate the friendships and connections.

A big thank you to all the staff who helped make the night possible and came along to celebrate with students.

Year 12 Pyjama Day

Gallery Image

On Tuesday 18 August, Year 12 students traded in their usual school uniforms for pyjamas as a part of Year 12 Pyjama Day! The day provided a fun opportunity for the Year 12 cohort to relax, get involved and enjoy some school spirit while working towards an important milestone … Year 12 Graduation.

Students embraced the theme by arriving in a range of colourful and comfortable pyjamas, bringing plenty of energy and fun to the school day. The event also raised valuable funds towards their Year 12 Graduation celebrations, contributing to what promises to be a memorable end to their time at the College.

A big thank you to students, staff and the wider school community for getting involved and supporting the event. It was fantastic to see everyone getting behind the Year 12 cohort and helping make their final year one to remember.

Unit 3 VCE Awards and Unit 3 and 4 VM Awards

The College's Year 12 students were recently presented with VCE Unit 3 Academic Awards and Unit 3 and 4 VM Awards. The top-performing students in each subject were presented with an award to recognise the hard work, commitment and overall academic achievement. With 221 Year 12 students at the College, this is a significant achievement.

Congratulations to all award recipients on this fantastic achievement and to all our Year 12 students for their continued efforts throughout their final year.

It contains important information about what you need to know for VCE external assessments including written, aural, electronic/digital, oral and performance examinations, and the Extended Investigation oral presentation.

If a student did not collect these documents, they must collect their timetable from the front office as soon as possible. This includes Year 11 students completing a Year 12 subject.
