Around 900 Bemin students from both campuses headed out to the Truganina Athletics Track on Thursday 30 July for our annual House Athletics Carnival.

There was something for everyone across the full track and field program, from sprints and relays to long jump, high jump, shot put, discus and javelin. Some students had their eyes on a personal best or a spot at Division, others just wanted to have a crack at something new — and the energy on the day reflected that. House colours were everywhere, the sidelines were loud all day long, and every home-straight finish brought the crowd to its feet. It was brilliant to see how much pride students took in their house.

House Results

  1. Bradman – 404 points
  2. Gillard – 364 points
  3. Freeman – 296 points
  4. Alcott – 295 points
  5. Cowan – 281 points
  6. Mabo – 237 points

Congratulations to Bradman on taking out the overall shield, and to every house for the spirit they brought to the day.

It was fantastic to see so many students enjoying the day — whether that was competing in events, cheering from the sidelines, working through the food trucks, or getting involved in the arts and craft activities on offer.

A day of this scale doesn't happen without a great deal of work behind the scenes. Thank you to our PE staff and the additional staff who gave up their day to marshal, time, measure and record, and to our house leaders, whose organisation and energy kept everything — and everyone — running smoothly.

Congratulations to all the students who qualified for the Division competition. Well done to all students and staff involved — we can't wait to do it all again next year!

STAFF VERSUS YEAR 12 STUDENTS BASKETBALL AND VOLLEYBALL GAMES

As part of our Week 9 celebrations for the Year 12 cohort, we kicked off the countdown to their departure from the College with two highly anticipated Staff vs Year 12 basketball and volleyball!

In previous years, the students have consistently managed to claim victory over the staff, so there was plenty of motivation for staff to finally turn the tables. This year, the staff came ready to compete and for the first time, the staff secured victories in both basketball and volleyball!

Both events created an incredible atmosphere, with an outstanding turnout of students and staff cheering from the sidelines and getting behind their teams. The games were filled with plenty of competitive spirit, laughs and memorable moments, making them a fantastic way to begin celebrating our Year 12 students as they approach the end of their time at the College.

A thank you to everyone who participated, supported and cheered on their teams. It was fantastic to see such a strong sense of community as we celebrate our Year 12s and the memories they have created during their time at the College.

Anime Club

Anime Club in Term 3 was filled with amazing artwork, lively conversations, and plenty of enthusiasm for students’ favourite Japanese shows. It was wonderful to see students from Years 10–12 come together to share their creativity, interests, and passion for anime.

Next term, we look forward to continuing to provide students with a welcoming space to explore and celebrate their love of Japanese art, language, and culture!
