Student Achievements

Congratulations to the following students:

Abigail Gravell (Year 12), who has been awarded a prestigious scholarship in the Australian National University (ANU) Vice-Chancellor Scholars Program! 

Valued at $66,500 over four years, this scholarship gives Abigail the freedom to pursue any eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree at the ANU in Canberra. 

She will be stepping into her tertiary journey in 2027 by commencing a Bachelor of Medical Sciences while exploring her future career pathways. 

Congratulations, Abigail! We are so proud of your dedication and wish you all the very best for this exciting next chapter.

Madeleine Marr and Rozalia Arnold (Year 11), who have been accepted into the National Youth Science Forum Year 12 program with The Australian National University, commencing January 2027. 

This immersive nine-day program will see them collaborate with peers nationwide, learn from leading Australian and international STEM professionals, and explore the vast world of study pathways and future careers. 

With Madeleine setting her sights on medicine and Rozalia looking towards physics, this is a fantastic stepping stone for their future ambitions. 

Congratulations, Madeleine and Rozalia! We are so proud of your achievement and wish you every success with this exciting opportunity!  

In a previous edition of The Fountain, we proudly acknowledged Safira Crook (Year 10) ahead of the Australian Equestrian Interschools Championships in Werribee, Victoria. We are equally delighted to recognise Lily Curtis (Year 11), who also represented Tasmania on the national stage at this prestigious event. Earning a spot at this level reflects immense dedication, discipline and talent. Congratulations to both Safira and Lily on this outstanding achievement. Our College community is extremely proud of your hard work and success in the arena. 

Audrey Farrelly (Year 9), who is heading to South Africa to represent Tasmania at the Indoor Cricket World Series! Making it to the world stage is a phenomenal achievement and shows just how much hard work and talent she’s put in. We’re all cheering for you, Audrey – good luck, and we can’t wait to hear all about it when you get back!

Sophie Medhurst (Year 8), who won the U14 Club Hockey Grand Final on Friday with the University Hockey Club. Fantastic effort, Sophie. We are so proud of your dedication and achievement. You have a bright future ahead of you! 

Year 2 Knights finish season on a high! 

Congratulations to the Year 2 students of the Glenorchy Knights on an outstanding soccer season! Through hard work, dedication and determination, the team finished the year unbeaten and capped off their efforts with a Hobart Cup Victory. Their coach, Luke Northeast, reflected on the season, sharing: 

"The girls should be incredibly proud of what they have accomplished. Their commitment, teamwork and effort all season long have been rewarded with a fantastic result."

Well done to the following St Mary's College Year 2 students on this fantastic achievement: Olivia Tuttle, Imogen Smith, Remi Johnstone, Mia Johnstone, Daisy Thomason, Elliott Northeast and Florence James.
