From the Director of Junior School 

Dear Families,

This week, our Junior School teachers are meeting with families to discuss student progress. For our Year 3 to 6 students, these meetings provide an important opportunity to take the lead in conversations about their learning journey.

Educational research by John Hattie supports encouraging our older students to lead these discussions, highlighting the significant impact of student self-reflection on achievement. When students can evaluate their learning, identify areas for growth and set goals for future improvement, they develop greater independence, self-regulation and ownership of their learning. These skills are essential for fostering meaningful and sustained academic growth.

Athletics Carnival 

On Friday 4 September, our Prep to Year 6 students participated in the Junior School Athletics Carnival. This year marked the first time our Early Years students joined us for the event, and it was wonderful to see them enthusiastically participating alongside their older peers.

From throwing and jumping events to exciting track races, the carnival showcased the many talents of our students. More importantly, it highlighted the resilience, determination and grit demonstrated by so many children as they challenged themselves and contributed valuable points to their House teams.

The day was filled with energy, encouragement and school spirit, and we are incredibly proud of the positive attitude and sportsmanship displayed by all participants.

We look forward to announcing our House Spirit Award, overall Athletics Carnival House winner and Age Champions at our assembly early next term.
