Surfing Excursion

Surfing in Broulee

The Year 9 Sports Studies students embarked on a two-day, overnight surfing excursion to Broulee, staying at the NRMA Holiday Park.

This practical experience was designed to complement their curriculum by providing hands-on learning in water-based physical activities, focusing on surfing as a sport, ocean safety, teamwork, and personal skill development.

Day 1 Highlights:

  • Zanthe was the first to catch a wave.
  • Cruze earned "Best on Waves" for the day.
  • Milla and Gabi amusingly didn’t know the difference between the front and back of their wetsuits.
  • Everyone caught at least part of a wave.

Day 2 Highlights:

  • Ruben caught the first wave of the day.
  • Two hours of Stand-Up Paddleboarding followed, with encounters with huge, friendly local stingrays.
  • Students showed signs of tiredness but had a unique and eye-opening experience engaging with the surf and beach environments.
  • Enjoying a fun bus ride home listening to cricket on ABC radio.

Lots of fun was had by all students. Well done!
