Surfing Excursion

Surfing in Broulee
The Year 9 Sports Studies students embarked on a two-day, overnight surfing excursion to Broulee, staying at the NRMA Holiday Park.
This practical experience was designed to complement their curriculum by providing hands-on learning in water-based physical activities, focusing on surfing as a sport, ocean safety, teamwork, and personal skill development.
Day 1 Highlights:
- Zanthe was the first to catch a wave.
- Cruze earned "Best on Waves" for the day.
- Milla and Gabi amusingly didn’t know the difference between the front and back of their wetsuits.
Everyone caught at least part of a wave.
Day 2 Highlights:
- Ruben caught the first wave of the day.
- Two hours of Stand-Up Paddleboarding followed, with encounters with huge, friendly local stingrays.
- Students showed signs of tiredness but had a unique and eye-opening experience engaging with the surf and beach environments.
- Enjoying a fun bus ride home listening to cricket on ABC radio.
Lots of fun was had by all students. Well done!
