National Reconciliation Week 2025

This week, our school proudly recognises National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June), a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories and cultures and to reflect on how we can contribute to reconciliation. The 2025 theme, Bridging Now to Next calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.

Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

If you would like to get involved a calendar of events can be found on the Reconciliation Australia website.

Let’s stand together to support a more inclusive and united Australia—now more than ever.

Term in Review: Celebrating Our School Chaplain, Kristen Akenson

This term, we have had some amazing events and programs started by our Chappy Kristen. Her dedication to building community, supporting students, and fostering a positive school culture is being recognized by the school community.

Here are some of the highlights from chaplaincy this year:

  • Breakfast Club has continued to be a warm and welcoming start to the day for so many students. Thanks to Kristen’s efforts, this initiative has now been generously sponsored by Bakers Delight at The Gap Village, ensuring even more young people can begin their day with a full belly and a smile.
  • Our Minecraft Movie Night was a huge success, with 57 people from across The Gap community attending. It was a fun-filled evening bringing families and students together in support of school chaplaincy.
  • At the Year 7 Camp, Kristen played a key role in helping students connect and make memories, running engaging night games that created excitement and laughter.
  • Over 35 hampers delivered to students across our community for both Christmas and Easter, offering care and support during times that can be challenging for some families.
  • We have had 3 awesome pancake breakfasts and enjoyed a mega Chappy breakfast last week during Chappy week.
