Over the weekend, our EVP athletes competed at the Queensland Beach Schools Cup at Coolangatta, delivering our strongest beach volleyball performance to date. With 120 athletes participating across 37 teams and hundreds of games over two days, this event showcased the depth and commitment within our program.
Our students were recognised by other schools and parents for their kindness and sportsmanship, demonstrating their commitment to upholding the EVP values. Our senior athletes exemplified leadership by supporting and coaching junior teams during their rest periods, significantly impacting the overall culture and development of our program.
The discipline and responsibility our athletes showed - staying organised, seeking feedback, and applying it in the demanding beach volleyball environment, was both admirable and effective, with their preparation and disciplined play directly contributing to our standout results.
Results Highlights:
- Year 7 Girls: Gold, Silver, Bronze, and 4th place
- Year 7 Boys: Silver
- Year 8 Boys: Bronze (pairs), Silver (4s)
- Year 9 Boys: Gold (pairs), Bronze (4s)
- Year 9 Girls: Gold and Bronze (pairs)
- Year 10 Girls: Gold (pairs)
- Year 11 Girls: 4th place (4s)
With 13 top-4 finishes across divisions, this performance demonstrates that commitment to character, discipline, and feedback creates both personal growth and competitive success.
Current students will have an opportunity to trial for a position within the Elite Volleyball Program. Our final trial for 2025 will be held at 7:15am on Wednesday, August 20th (Week 6). Students must arrive promptly to sign in and wear their PE uniform, with any formal uniform ready to change into for their school day. We are looking forward to seeing the brave students who are prepared to put themselves forward and trial, regardless of the outcome.
We are in the final stages of preparation for the Senior Schools Cup, where our Year 12 athletes will compete in their final Queensland Schools Cup event of their high school careers. This competition holds special significance as these senior athletes conclude their EVP journey, having contributed immensely to our program's culture and success. We are excited to watch our program leaders compete hard and represent the EVP with pride and enjoy the reward of competing after many years of committed training.
