Welcome back to another exciting term of STEM. Students have revised our STEM behaviour expectations matrix and hit the ground running, engaging in the Engineering Design process as they investigate problems, design creative solutions, build prototypes, test their ideas and make improvements.

Our Prep to Year 2 students have started to, and will continue to, solve fairytale-inspired problems this term. They have designed and constructed safe bridges for The Three Billy Goats Gruff to cross safely and reach greener grass. They have also learnt about the life cycle of a bean plant, which revised concepts from their biological sciences learning last term, and they planted their own bean plants to observe growth over the coming weeks. These bean plants will play a role in an upcoming fairytale challenge… can you guess which story we will be exploring? Students also celebrated the spirit of the Commonwealth Games by designing and creating their own medals, exploring materials and design. 

Students in Yeas 3-6 stepped into the shoes of ‘Lego Masters’, inspired by the recent tv series, as they planned and created a LEGO display challenge. They also embraced the role of engineers by planning, creating, testing and improving prototypes of Commonwealth Games sporting venues, arenas or stadiums. It has been great to see students’ creativity, collaboration and problem-solving shining through during these tasks.
