Welcome to Term 3!

We've had a fantastic start to Term 3, with students returning refreshed and ready to learn. It has been wonderful to see everyone settling back into classroom routines so quickly and embracing new learning opportunities with enthusiasm.

This term, our Knowledge Building unit explores colonisation throughout the world. Students will investigate how different countries were colonised, the reasons behind exploration and settlement, and the lasting impacts colonisation has had on people, cultures and societies. We look forward to some rich discussions as students develop their historical understanding and make connections to the world we live in today.

In Writing, we've been discovering the creative world of poetry. Students have impressed us with their imaginative haiku and cinquain poems, carefully selecting words to paint vivid pictures and express ideas in just a few lines. It's been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they experiment with descriptive language and poetic techniques.

Mathematics has seen us begin our unit on angles. Students have been identifying, comparing and measuring different types of angles while discovering where they appear in everyday life. We did have one very entertaining detour along the way as the class realised the difference between angles and angels! It sparked a great conversation about spelling, meaning and why one little letter can make such a big difference.

As always, we're continuing to build a positive and supportive classroom culture. This term we are reinforcing our classroom behaviour expectations. These expectations help create a safe, respectful and productive learning environment where every student can thrive. I have attached a picture of the Classroom Expectations for everyone to see.
