Art has started off well this term with lots of colour and creativity!

The prep students have started strong experimenting with colour through dots inspired by Yayoi Kusama. They began by experimenting with different coloured and sized dots using paints and have recently moved onto creating Yayoi Kusama inspired pumpkins which will be finished next week. The students also read a book called “The Dot” which inspires everyone to be an artist in their own way. 

Our year 1 and 2 cohort finished off some winter themed artwork to start using mixed media by combining wool, pastels and coloured paper. All their beanie and mitten creations looked so cozy! 

3C, 4W and 4/5A have finished up their graffiti art from last term with stunning results. All students have developed some new skills in shading and lettering and have enjoyed experimenting with oil pastels and mixing colours. Our next focus is going to be on sculptures inspired by the Commonwealth Games. 

5/6T have been extremely dedicated to their Art Projects inspired by connection through the phase “bridges between us”. The final touches have been added to these pieces along with an artist statement to explain their thinking. It has been inspiring to watch them all express themselves individually. Next, we are following the theme of graffiti Art and will be experimenting with stencils and diving into the work of Banksy.
