Year 11 Camp

Student Reflections

The Year 11 Adventure Camp is one of the more underestimated camps at Oxley. Many of the activities we took part in on camp didn't only involve physicality, but required grit, perseverance and critical thinking. The camp leaders gave each student the ability to grow and thrive, pushing everyone out of their comfort zone and reaching new heights (literally). The activities were truly one of a kind – climbing trees, jumping off platforms, the Hunger Games and Wildergaining were highlights for everyone. The camp gave individuals the opportunities to grow as leaders in every way possible, which was further supported by our teachers and Mr Van Gaalen's testimony. Being the last year level to go on camp at Oxley, it gave us time to enjoy ourselves with peers and connect with them as we head into VCE. We are very grateful for the experiences we left Camp with. Year 11 Camp was an amazing experience, with so many awesome activities that challenged our teamwork, and helped us find out more about our own, and others, character strengths. We had lots of fun exploring the beautiful Kinglake National Park, soaking in the fresh air and the campsite was stunning. We had many opportunities to appreciate God’s wonderful creation.

My favourite activity by far was the free fall; while it was a bit scary looking down at the ground from such a high platform, it was an incredible adrenaline rush jumping off and facing my fears. Camp was a great way to start the year spending time with all my friends and making some new ones too. Eliza M (11.15)
