Year 9 and 10 Sub School Report

The Year 9 and 10 Sub school would like to welcome all our Year 9 and Year 10 students and families back to school.
The start of the year is always an important time to reset expectations, build positive routines and strengthen our sense of community at Lalor Secondary College.
For our Year 9 students, this year represents a TIME TO EXPLORE. Students are now expected to demonstrate increasing independence, organisation and responsibility in their learning. Developing consistent study habits early in the year will set students up for long-term success.
For our Year 10 students, this year represents a TIME TO CHOICE. This is a pivotal year as students begin laying foundations for pathways. Course selections, career exploration and subject commitment become increasingly important. We encourage all students to reflect on goals and take advantage of the guidance available from teachers. The habits you build this year will strongly influence your transition into senior studies.
Across both year levels, our focus for the term is on three key priorities:
1. Strong Learning HabitsStudents are expected to come prepared to every lesson with required materials, completed homework and a willingness to engage. Establishing structured homework routines at home will greatly support academic growth.
2. Respectful RelationshipsWe, as a sub school are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive and supportive environment. Respect for peers, staff and the wider community remain a cornerstone of our sub-school culture. We encourage students to communicate openly and seek support when needed.
3. Attendance and PunctualityRegular attendance is critical for academic success and wellbeing. We ask families to support students in arriving on time and attending every scheduled class unless unwell.
This term also offers a range of co-curricular opportunities, including sports teams and clubs. Participation beyond the classroom builds confidence, teamwork and school pride. We strongly encourage all students to get involved in at least one activity that interests them.
Communication between home and school is vital. If you have any concerns or questions, do not hesitate to contact the sub-school team. We value strong partnerships with families.
