Year 7

As Term 2 draws to a close, I would like to acknowledge the positive progress our Year 7 students have made throughout their first semester of secondary schooling. This term has required students to adapt to new expectations, routines, and learning environments, and they have approached these challenges with maturity and growing confidence.

Across all learning areas, students have demonstrated increasing independence and a commitment to developing strong study habits. Their engagement in classroom activities, collaborative tasks, and assessment opportunities reflects a cohort that is building a solid foundation for future success.

It has also been pleasing to see Year 7 students participating in a wide range of school events and activities. Their involvement contributes to a positive school culture and strengthens their sense of belonging within our community. These experiences play an important role in supporting both academic and social development.

As we move into the holiday break, I encourage families to take the opportunity to rest and reset. Term 3 will bring new learning opportunities, and we look forward to seeing students return refreshed and ready to continue their growth.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and commitment to the wellbeing and success of all year 7’s.

Year Level Leader's Report - Year 7

What a fantastic first semester it has been for our Year 7 students!

We would like to congratulate all Year 7 students on successfully completing their first semester of secondary school. Year 7 is a significant transition, bringing many changes, new experiences, and opportunities for growth. Our students have made a strong start to their secondary school journey, demonstrating resilience, determination, and a willingness to embrace new challenges.

This term, we would also like to congratulate 7H, who finished the term as the leading tutor group for Tutor Challenge points. Their positive attitude, teamwork, and commitment to our school expectations have been outstanding.

We are also proud to recognise our recent Students of the Week:

  • Debrah Kunoo – 7H
  • Cyde Dumaboc – 7E
  • Adele Reynolds- 7J
  • Emily Shillingford -7F
  • James Coghill – 7D
  • Shylar Barbar- 7K
  • Shlok Choudhary - 7A

These students were recognised for consistently demonstrating our school values of Respect, Excellence, and Cooperation. We are incredibly proud of the positive contribution they make to our school community.

Another milestone this term was our Year 7 students completing their first exams. Students approached this challenge with determination and excellence. We are proud of the effort and perseverance students displayed throughout the examination period.

Year 7 students have also commenced the Healthy Minds Program, which will continue into Term 3. Through this program, students explore mental health, wellbeing, and positive coping strategies. The first session received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with students actively engaging in discussions and learning valuable skills to support their wellbeing.

One of the highlights of the term was our exciting STEM excursion to Wyndham Tech School. Students had the opportunity to build robots, design computer games, fly drones, and experience virtual reality technology. The day provided a wonderful opportunity for students to explore innovation, creativity, and future career pathways in technology.

Our students studying Hindi also enjoyed a unique cultural experience to celebrate International Day of Yoga. Students participated in yoga activities and deepened their understanding of Indian culture through a visit to a local restaurant, where they explored traditional foods and cultural practices.

As we come to the end of Term 2, we would like to thank our students, families, and staff for their ongoing support. We wish everyone a safe, happy, and healthy holiday break and look forward to another exciting semester of learning and growth in Term 3.
