Year 9 STEM Students participate in ABCN Future Thinkers Workshop.
Our Year 9 STEM students recently attended the ABCN Future Thinkers Workshop hosted at PwC in Melbourne’s Southbank precinct. The excursion was a fantastic success and provided students with an engaging introduction to the principles of design thinking, a key skill that closely aligns with the project-based learning utilised in the STEM Academy Program.
Throughout the day, students worked alongside professional mentors from PwC, collaborating to solve real-world challenges and develop innovative solutions. The workshop encouraged creativity, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, with students remaining highly engaged throughout the experience. Student feedback following the workshop was overwhelmingly positive, with many enjoying the opportunity to learn from industry professionals and gain insights into future career pathways.
The visit also provided students with the chance to explore the Southbank area along the Yarra River. Students enjoyed the walk to and from the venue, taking in the sights of the city and capturing plenty of memorable photos along the way. The PwC offices themselves were a highlight, with many students impressed by the spectacular views from the upper floors of the building.
A special mention goes to our STEM Class Captain, Aldrienne Limbaroc who delivered an impressive and heartfelt thank-you speech to the organisers and mentors at the conclusion of the workshop. Aldrienne represented our school exceptionally well and expressed the gratitude of the entire group.
We would also like to thank Jaimee Kindt for organising this valuable opportunity for our students. Experiences such as these help students connect their classroom learning to the wider world and inspire them to think creatively about the future.
