Student Requests
It has been wonderful to see students continuing to submit book requests through the library. The high number of requests indicates that students are engaged readers who are thinking critically about what they would like to read and learn about. We are committed to prioritising student requests wherever possible, as this gives students a genuine voice in shaping our collection. When students see their interests reflected on the library shelves, they are more likely to feel a sense of ownership, connection, and belonging within the library, which in turn encourages greater reading engagement and supports the development of lifelong reading habits. Here are two recent student requests that have arrived in the library.
Title: The Boy at The Back of The Class

A magnificent plan to reunite Ahmet with his loved ones.”

Get to know a Library Monitor
Name: Angelic Phaung 7B
Q.Why did you apply to be a library monitor?
A. I really like reading and I go to the library often, both at school and outside of school. There are a lot of books that I enjoy, and I like to recommend books and encourage people to read. I like to keep the library neat and help organise the books. I am looking forward to the book week activities.
Q. Do you have a favourite book?
A. I have a favourite series- Toilet Bound Hanako which is a manga and anime. I recommended this series to our school library and was incredibly happy when it arrived.
Q.What do you like about reading?
A. There are lots of reasons. For manga I like the style, plot, and likeable characters. In general, I enjoy reading about different characters and some books have a great style of writing which I find to be really engaging
Library Displays
Displays capture students’ attention and encourage them to browse books they might not normally chose. Interesting displays spark curiosity and lead to increased borrowing. When deciding on a theme for a display we look at current curriculum, student interest, and special events. Most recently we promoted study resources and helpful hints for exam week which provided our students with relevant resources to help their learning. We also supported recent school wide events such as Reconciliation Week and Pride, Safe Schools, and Inclusive Communities. Library displays such as these can highlight books that represent diverse cultures, experiences, identities, and viewpoints. This helps students to see themselves reflected in the collection whilst also developing empathy and understanding for others.
VCE Study Pod: An interview with year 12 students
Q. How often do you use the study POD?
A. Most breaks
Q. How do you use the study POD?
A. For homework and additional study. For Maths homework. For reviewing English essays. For peer teaching.
Q. Why do you prefer this to other areas of the school?
We appreciate the quiet space and use of the whiteboard. It’s good to be able to collaborate. Being a space for VCE students makes it special for us. We find it really quiet, and we can easily focus and do our work.
