Sports Update

GSV Sport

A huge well done to all the girls that committed to a sport this term, be it tennis or softball. What was obvious was the enjoyment and passion everyone displayed, and whether a win or a loss, there was still plenty of energy and positive feedback from the coaches. What is very pleasing to see is that we have had 70 girls sign up for Term 2 weekly sport (netball and AFL), which is close to 50% of the senior school cohort. We also welcome the next GSV carnival sport of cross-country which will involve weekly training at Caulfield Park and two training meets before the preliminary and championship carnivals. As well as House Cross Country kicking off the term in week 2.

All information will soon be released via Operoo, so please be mindful to ensure all students have permission for the events they are involved in.

 Sporting Success

In our Junior School, following Anna K's (Year 6) selection for the Team Vic 11-19 Years Aquathon/Triathlon team for 2024, Anna travelled to Perth for the National Championships. In her first National level competition, Anna had a great experience and I’m sure will have many more competitions upcoming with this team. From aquathon then to swimming success, Anna recently competed at the regional swimming competition at YAWA Aquatic Centre, where she set a regional record out of eight divisions in the Southern Metropolitan primary schools in the 50m breaststroke with a blistering time of 37.26 secs. Anna moves onwards now to the State Finals, and we wish her all the best on Friday 19 April. Well done Anna!

In our Senior School, our Sports Captain, Alex T (Year 12) competed in the GSV Senior Diving Finals night this week at MSAC. With a wonderful demonstration of diving ability, Alex placed 10th in a very competitive field.
