Year 8 Performing Arts

Wicked Excursion

On March 20, the Year 8 Theatre Production students and the Year 9 Drama students embarked on an exciting journey to experience 'Wicked' at the Regent Theatre. This spellbinding musical offers a fresh twist on the story of the witches of Oz, centering on the friendship between Glinda and Elphaba.

With mesmerising songs like Defying Gravity and Popular, 'Wicked' seamlessly merges fantasy with contemporary themes. The students were immersed not only in the incredible performances but also in the intricate details of the production, including the stunning set design, dynamic lighting effects, and elaborate costumes.

Throughout the performance, the students exhibited exemplary behaviour, remaining respectful and fully engaged, reflecting positively on Shelford. The experience provided our students with a valuable opportunity to immerse themselves in live theatre, enabling them to connect with the concepts they've been studying in class. We also anticipate that this experience will deepen students' understanding of and appreciation for theatre and the performing arts.
