🌿 Wellbeing: Looking After Ourselves as Term 3 Comes to an End
As we come to the end of another busy Term 3, it is a good time for students and families to pause, take a breath and think about wellbeing. The final weeks of a term can sometimes feel tiring, so remember that looking after ourselves is just as important as keeping up with schoolwork and activities. Getting enough sleep, eating well, spending time outdoors, connecting with family and friends, and making time for activities we enjoy can all help us recharge. For families in the Saltwater Point Cook community, there are also opportunities to connect, socialise and unwind locally. Wyndham City Youth Services offers programs for young people aged 12–25, including Drop In @ Saltwater, where young people can spend time with friends and enjoy a safe, supervised environment. There are also programs at Youth Services @ Point Cook, including Drop In, Breakfast Club and Courtside activities.
☀️ Get Active and Connected These School Holidays
With the September school holidays approaching, families are encouraged to look at some of the many activities available across Wyndham. Wyndham City’s Active Holidays program offers free activities at locations across Wyndham, including Point Cook, providing opportunities for children and young people to get active, try something new and have fun during the break.
For young people aged 12–17, Wyndham City Youth Services is also running Holiday Action from 21 September – 2 October. This year's program includes exciting activities such as AFL workshops, the Royal Melbourne Show, Splatball and much more, with opportunities to get involved, meet others and try something new. There is even an opportunity to join the team in FUNdraising for the World's Greatest Shave. Spots are strictly limited and bookings are open now, so families are encouraged to secure a place early.
As we head into the holidays, remember that wellbeing doesn't have to be complicated. Take some time to rest, have fun, connect with the people around you and do something that makes you feel good. Whether that's enjoying a walk around the Saltwater community, playing sport, catching up with friends, reading a book, spending time with family or simply taking some quiet time for yourself — every small step towards looking after our wellbeing counts.
Wishing all our students and families a safe, happy and refreshing school holiday break!
