Leadership Report

As we move into the final weeks of Term 3, there continues to be plenty happening across Saltwater P–9 College. Over recent weeks, we have enjoyed opportunities to celebrate our students and bring our community together, while also beginning the important work of preparing for Term 4 and the 2027 school year. In this edition, we reflect on the wonderful celebration that was Book Week 2026, share some important information about our planning and enrolments for 2027, and provide a timely reminder about sun protection requirements as we look ahead to the warmer months.

Celebrating Book Week 2026: A Look Back

Saltwater College recently joined the nationwide celebration of Book Week, which took place from August 22 to August 28. This year's inspiring theme, "Symphony of Stories," came to life across our campus in a truly thrilling display of literacy, creativity, and community spirit! 

The absolute highlight of the celebrations was our annual Book Week parade on Friday, August 28. It was incredible to see every year level take part with such boundless imagination and enthusiasm. Students proudly showcased an array of spectacular costumes that matched this year's theme or brought their favourite book characters to life. We extend a massive thank you to our families for supporting our book week parade, the school was filled with brilliant and creative outfits.

Throughout the week, our students were fully immersed in the joy of literature through these initiatives: 

• Special Library Read-Alouds: Students attended scheduled library visits to hear a curated selection of shortlisted Book Week titles read aloud by teachers and guest presenters, sparking wonderful literary discussions. 

• Creative Classroom Workshops: Teachers designed interactive, book-focused lessons to extend the reading experience. Students engaged in character-inspired artwork, story mapping, creative writing challenges, and collaborative storytelling sessions. 

   

We appreciate our community's extraordinary support in making Book Week 2026 such a memorable success. It was a beautiful reminder of the power of reading and the vibrant imagination alive within our college!

Planning for the 2027 School Year

The leadership team has officially begun preparation for the 2027 school year, focusing on our future class structures, resource allocations, and staff recruitment processes.

To ensure we have highly accurate numbers for our upcoming planning phases, we kindly request that families notify the school as soon as possible if your child/ren will not be returning to Saltwater P–9 College in 2027.

If your family is relocating or changing schools next year, please inform our administration team by calling the school office directly on 8366 7700.

Reminder: Finalising 2027 Prep Enrolments

Following a highly successful series of Friday morning school tours across Term 2 and Term 3, Saltwater P–9 College is finalising intake numbers for the 2027 Prep cohort. We kindly urge current families who have younger children starting school next year to submit their enrolment forms without delay.

Applications can be accessed via the official Saltwater P–9 College Website. Initial placement letters have been sent, and further offers are being finalised. To guarantee your child’s placement, please return enrolment documentation to our office team. We look forward to sharing our upcoming Prep Transition Program dates with you this September! 

Term 4 Sun Protection: "No Hat, No Play" Policy

As we approach Term 4, we are moving into the warmer months where daily UV levels consistently reach high and damaging levels. At Saltwater P–9 College, we take sun safety very seriously.

In Term 4, our "No Hat, No Play" policy will be in full effect across all year levels. Any student who does not have an approved sun hat during recess, lunchtime, or outdoor learning sessions will be required to stay under the shaded areas to protect their skin.

To provide adequate protection, school hats must be the approved college style such as our wide-brimmed or bucket hat designs. Please note that standard baseball caps are not permitted as they leave the ears and neck exposed.

Official school hats can be purchased directly from Noone, our uniform provider, either online or at their retail outlet. We highly recommend purchasing your child's hat before the end of this term and clearly labelling it with their full name so it can be easily returned if misplaced.

🌭 Saltwater Community Bunnings Sausage Sizzle!

Get ready for a delicious way to support our school! On Sunday, 13 September 2026, Saltwater P–9 College will be hosting a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings Hoppers Crossing to raise vital funds for our brand-new school library. Every cent raised on the day will go directly toward purchasing new books and high-quality learning resources for our students.

This is a fantastic fundraising opportunity for our college, and we would love to see the whole Saltwater community get behind us.

🤝 How You Can Get Involved

There are three wonderful ways you can support our library project:

• Come and Eat: Drop down to Bunnings Hoppers Crossing on the day to buy a sausage and a drink! Bring your family, friends, and neighbors along for lunch.

• Volunteer for a Shift: We need enthusiastic helping hands to keep the BBQ running smoothly. Please click our digital link to add your name to an available time slot: 

• Donate Supplies: To maximise our fundraising profits, we are seeking donations of unopened, in-date items to help lower our upfront costs.

If you are able to donate, please drop any of the following items to the school front office by Friday, 11 September:

• 🥫 Cans of soft drink & bottles of water

• 🧅 Bags of fresh onions

• 🍅 Bottles of tomato, BBQ, or mustard sauce

• 🧻 Packs of paper napkins

💙 Celebrating Father’s Day & Special Persons Day💙 

This upcoming Sunday, 6 September 2026, we celebrate Father’s Day and Special Persons Day across our community.

On behalf of the staff and students at Saltwater P–9 College, we want to extend our warmest wishes to all of the wonderful dads, grandfathers, uncles, stepdads, foster fathers, and special role models who enrich the lives of our children every single day. Your guidance, care, and ongoing support shape our young learners and strengthen the vibrant spirit of our entire school community.

We understand that families are beautifully diverse, and this day is an equal opportunity to celebrate any special person who provides unconditional love and a safe, encouraging foundation for our students. Whether you are spending the day sharing a meal, enjoying the outdoors, or simply catching up, we hope your Sunday is filled with laughter, appreciation, and connection. Thank you for everything you do- enjoy your special day!

Lastly, a massive thank you to our wonderful school community for supporting our annual Father’s Day Stall this week. We are also incredibly grateful to our amazing team of volunteers who generously gave up their time to coordinate, set up, and run the store, helping our students select the perfect treasures for their special people.

There is still plenty to look forward to as we finish Term 3 and prepare for a busy and exciting Term 4. We look forward to continuing to celebrate the achievements, learning and experiences of our students and working together to make the remainder of 2026 a positive and successful one for our entire Saltwater P–9 College community.
